Athena Water Ionizer Review

Retail Price $2,295

My first experience of the Athena Water Ionizer came when a friend of mine became a distributor for the network marketing company that distributes them. While the markup on network marketing products generally raises the price I appreciate how the MLM networks are the driving force behind educating consumers about ionized water.

I would say that it's one of the easiest machines to use with it's one big dial in front, although I find after a few weeks that I don't really need to have the woman's voice tell me that I've selected Alkaline Water for the 50th time. I know what I selected (It automatically tells you what you've selected ...every time you tunr it on).On to the more important things like how well it works, the specs, and the pros and cons.

The question about the Athena I hear most often is about cost, not about quality. Does it cost too much?

Company Info

As I mentioned the Athena water ionizer is sold through network marketing by the Alka Viva/Ionways company that also sells 4 other models. The ionizer is manufactured in Korea by EmoTech/Samsung. Overall their units are well made as is true of most Korean products.

Pros and Cons

1. Two filters - prefilter and Biostone

2. Nice voice controls

3. Change Filter Indicator

4. 4 alkaline and 4 acidic preset

1. Replacement filters are expensive.

2. 5 Plates

3. High price

One of the things I like about the Athena is that it has two filters one which removes sediment and particles and a second which is a bio stone filter for removing lead, chlorine, and other Pollutants. The milestone also helps mineralized water for better ionization. Both filters should last about six or seven months and cost $130 for both which is a bit pricey relative to comparable filter replacements in other models.

I feel the Athena water ionizer is a good product, and a fair value. Most of the reviews online have good things to say about it. My friend has had his about five years now and it's worked very well for him.

However I believe you would probably find better value in a seven plate water ionizer that would cost less.

My suggestion is to take a look at our comparison page. I think you'll find some comparative 7 plate water ionizers for less money.
